Wildlife Walks at Bowland Wild Boar Park

Explore the Countryside at Your Own Pace.

Set in the heart of the Forest of Bowland National Landscape, Bowland Wild Boar Park offers peaceful woodland and riverside walks surrounded by unspoilt Lancashire countryside. Our wildlife walks are perfect for families, couples, dog walkers and anyone looking to enjoy fresh air, open space and time in nature.

Whether you’re visiting for a full day out or simply calling in for a stroll and coffee, our country park provides the ideal setting to slow down and reconnect with the outdoors.

Woodland Trails and Riverside Paths

Our marked walking routes wind through mature woodland, open grassland and along the banks of the River Hodder. The terrain is natural and varied, offering a gentle countryside experience suitable for most ages and abilities.

Along the way you’ll discover peaceful spots to pause, scenic viewpoints across the fells, and plenty of opportunities for children to explore safely. The trails can be enjoyed as a short circular wander or as part of a longer countryside walk during your visit.

Discover Local Wildlife

The park is home to a rich variety of wildlife throughout the seasons. Listen for birdsong in the trees, watch for butterflies and insects among the wildflowers, and keep an eye on the riverbanks for water-loving species. Autumn brings colourful leaves underfoot, spring welcomes new growth and activity, and summer offers long, bright days ideal for exploring.

Our wildlife walks are not only relaxing but also educational, making them ideal for school groups learning about habitats, conservation and the natural environment.

Dog-Friendly Countryside Walks

We welcome well-behaved dogs on leads throughout the park. With open space, woodland paths and riverside views, our walks are popular with local dog owners looking for a scenic and safe place to stretch their legs. Water bowls are available near the café, making it easy to combine a walk with refreshments.

A Perfect Addition to Your Day Out

Many visitors choose to enjoy a woodland walk before or after visiting our animals or stopping at the Trough & Brew café. It’s the perfect way to balance adventure and relaxation – explore the trails, meet the animals, then unwind with freshly prepared food and barista coffee in the heart of the park.

Whether you’re seeking a peaceful countryside escape, a family-friendly outdoor activity, or a scenic dog walk in Lancashire, our wildlife walks offer space to breathe and room to roam.
